About the event
Scranton Shakespeare Festival takes you into the incendiary heart of 1916 Dublin with Sean O'Casey’s timeless masterwork, The Plough and the Stars. The play’s title refers to the flag used by the Irish Citizen Army during the Easter Rebellion of 1916 that led to Irish Independence. O’Casey blends raw, heartbreaking tragedy with sharp, biting wit and reveals the human cost of war on the vulnerable and the poor of Dublin’s tenements. This marks the third of O’Casey’s Dublin Trilogy presented by Scranton Shakes, with this production in March 2027 taking place at Marywood University.
